4 Moms On Holiday Baking

This week The 4 Moms are sharing our favorite holiday cookie recipes AND we are inviting you to share yours too.

As for The Smockity Family, we do a lot of baking at all times during the year because we happen to like food, and, well, a lot of the food we like is baked.

So we bake it.

We do have 3 birthdays within 3 weeks of Christmas, though, so I would say the birthday cake ratio rises during the Christmas season more than at other times.

We also like to make this cheese ball igloo with cream cheese filled penguins and we have an annual gingerbread house party.

Our very favorite cookie recipe contains walnuts, white chocolate chips, and oatmeal.

Sounds yummy, huh? Take a look!

These are guaranteed to be a big hit at any party or cookie exchange. Trust me. You should try them!

    Lizzie’s Banana Bread

Makes: 1 loaf Total Time: 1 hr 20 min Submitted by: queenlizzie Category: Breads Sub Category: Quick Breads
    what you need
    2 cups all purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter, almost completely melted
    3/4 cup brown sugar
    2 large eggs, beaten
2-1/3 cups mashed over-ripe bananas (about 3-1/2 to 4 medium bananas)
make it Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.

In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar. Stir in the eggs and mashed bananas until well-blended. Stir banana mixture into flour mixture. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.

Bake for 60-65 minutes, until a toothpick inserted near the center of the loaf comes out clean. Let bread cool in pan 10 minutes; then turn out onto wire rack to cool completely.
Notes For a great twist to this bread, add a handful of chocolate chips, nuts, or marischino cherries.

Adding cherries plus chocolate chips makes this bread into a great “banana split” bread!
