Smockity Coming Attractions

Boys and girls, you are in for a treat with some fantastic new features here at Smockity Central.

I have a few ideas up my sleeve, well, okay... my friends have the ideas and I know a good idea when I steal one! In any case, there will be some brand new coming attractions for you to look forward to at your good ol' local Smockity Frocks.

Here's a run down of what to expect coming up real soon!

  • "What's In Your CrockPot?" will now be making an appearance, with a chance for you to link up your own CrockPot recipes once a month! That's right! Back by popular demand, you will have tons more CrockPot recipes to peruse every month.
  • "Tutorial Tuesday" (or some variation of that title) will be coming every week, with videos of yours truly showing step by step, easy "how to" projects you can do at home. I have already filmed the first one, which shows how even a child can make her own book with common household supplies. In future episodes, I will be showing how children can make their own pop up books, flap books, and question and answer books.
  • 4 Moms, 35 Kids will be blogging about shopping with little ones, food budgets, menu planning, cooking from scratch, AND MORE, with more live blogging PLUS a recipe link up you'll be able to participate in! And that is just in the hopper through April! We have homeschooling, household management, raising children, and blogging on the list, too!

So? What do you think?

Are there any tutorials you are dying to see me do? Are you ready to see more CrockPot recipes? What else would you like the 4 Moms to cover?

  1. I’m looking forward to all of it, but I like the videos the best!

  2. It sounds wonderful! Please make a video of you frying some fresh caught fish. Scott still drools over the thought of it and keeps asking me to make some! Of course, I told him he had to catch it first!!

  3. I want to see a Tutorial Tuesday on “How to Give Birth to Your 8th Child Naturally” 😀

  4. Uhm, Cheryl@SomewhatCrunchy, do you REALLY want to SEE how to give birth to your 8th child naturally? 😉 (I imagine it would not be much different than giving birth to any other number child naturally, although it may be a bit easier and faster …)

OK, here is what I’d really like to know about from these larger families. Where do you put all your stuff? Do you live in very big houses or do you not have much stuff or do you have very good storage solutions? I am really struggling with this because I live in a modest ranch with no basement, 3 kids and 2 adults. We have 3 bedrooms (1 is used as a family room for the tv, bunny cage, lots of books and games and the computer), a dining room/school room, kitchen, living room, small utility room/pantry, and 1 bathroom with no closet. The only closet that is not a bedroom closet (those are about 3×3) is the combo linen/coat closet which is CRAMMED with coats, linens, towels, bathroom & first aid supplies.

All 3 kids share a bedroom: a bunk bed w/ 1 on top and 2 on bottom, 2 dressers (5 drawers tall), and the modular/stackable things from Target for books and toys. Storage tubs w/ off-season clothes are under the bunk bed.

Yet we still have stuff crammed up against every wall and creaping into the center of the rooms. I feel like we are bursting at the seams and would love to know where other families put their stuff and hear suggestions!

  5. I have 1 bedroom for soon-to-be 3 kids also and would like some diagrams of how you have arranged the kids’ rooms! I am not good at interior decorating or organizing so my request goes along with the one above in that I really would love to see a video tour or diagram of your most crowded kid-room or all your kids’ rooms to get ideas for how to arrange my kids’ room with #3 coming.

I loved your country gravy how-to and it has sparked many adaptations for various sauces in my kitchen which have all turned out delicious! More food related tutorials would be great! Can you do pie crust? I can never get my pie crust right! It always disintegrates as I’m dishing out the pie so I got frustrated and only do the kinds that use oreo or grahm cracker crusts now… 😀 I AM a good cook, really! My Grandma was a great cook and both my parents are so myself and my siblings know our way around a kitchen. (Even my bachelor brother makes himself real meals like roast beef and mashed potatoes, and pizza from scratch.) There are just a few things that I cannot seem to master and pie crust is one of them.

Also I have another question, How do you arrange bathtime with all the kids? I only have 2 so I just put them in the tub together but since they’re opposite genders, that’s not going to work for very much longer. The oldest will be 4 in September. I’m curious though how everyone gets clean in a larger family. :) Do certain people bathe on certian days? Or at certain times? Do you let the toddlers share like mine do? Do you have multiple bathrooms? Are there fights over the bathroom? Lol! I remember growing up in a family of 5 with 1 bathroom and there was always someone in there and someone waiting. Or more typically mom and us girls were in there talking like… well like girls… while we attended our various bathroom needs, and the guys were dancing on one leg out in the living room. 😀

I am sure I will have lots more questions soon but it is almost midnight and I’m a bit braindead from too little sleep lately so I’ll let you off the hook for now! 😉

  6. How about a video on making the family’s matching easter outfits? Are you doing that again this year?

  7. Yay for the crockpot recipe swap coming back! :) I missed it last time and was so, so sorry!! Can’t wait to see what all comes of the new attractions!! :)

  8. Looking forward to more crockpot recipes – I think a crockpot is a busy mom’s best friend!! (except for those Sundays when you forget to turn it on before leaving for church….)

  9. I think every time I comment here I mention how much I love your videos. Could you do a video of styling little girls hair? Or

How about sharing laundry tips or travel tips from the 4 moms? Or tips on making time (accidental pun) with/for your husband.

    Thanks, Connie!

  10. I don’t really have any requests for content, but just want to say that along with Nicki, I really enjoy your videos! I don’t know how old you are, but some words aren’t usually used with ladies in their late twenties to forties, but I just have to say—I think your sense of humor is adorable-I’ve even shared some of your video with my husband. You do a really nice job with your tutorials, and I’m just glad I stumbled across you on twitter. I enjoy following you. :)

I would like to see how a large family gets and stays organized. We are a family of 4, (actually 6 right now my 7 and 8 year old nephews are living with us) and stuff tends to take over our home. Any ideas??

Second I would like some ideas on bible study and memorizing scripture with little ones. I love smockity frocks!!!!
